To move towards
the objective,
AMSS adopted an
innovative approach
to bring women
together by forming
women's collectives
i.e., SANGHA at
village level,
which is considered
as Nodal Center
of the program
.AMSS is experienced
in women's struggle
of empowerment
that started by
breaking their
silence, realizing
their situation,
seeking &
prioritization
and thereby evolving
an action plan.
The whole process
led them to fulfill
their need collectively,
which further
enhanced their
selfconfidence
and they started
taking steps for
their personal
change. Obviously
it is reflected
that the struggle
of rural women
empowerment started
with practical
gender need to
strategic gender
need.
Education in
Mahila Samakhya
(MS) is understood
not merely as
acquiring basic
literacy skill
but as a process
of learning to
question, critically
analyzing issues
and problems and
seeking solutions.
Thus MS is recognizing
the centrality
of education in
empowering women
to achieve equality.
Evolution and
growth of sangha
is a kind of learning
process of women
whereby they acquire
diversified experience
in addressing
the issues of
access and improvement
of social life.
Gradually they
started to cover
different areas
like - legal literacy,
literacy for economic
self-reliance,
literacy on health
issues and as
well as education
for all in their
action plan. Of
course these are
multidimensional
as well as wide
ranging variation
in nature.
